Today we are launching our new website. It’s taken a bit to get here and I want to thank Brenda and Greg at Kelley Marketing for their outstanding work in putting this together for us.
July updates
As many of you know, we are short staffed at the township and are a bit behind in keeping caught up on things. Everyone is working hard to accomplish the tasks and goals with regard to their respective offices, but there has been some crossover between these offices to help facilitate that.
We can start uploading minutes as they become available and ask for your patience as we work through these issues.
The website is designed to be more user friendly and easier to navigate.
We will also work to up date the site in a timely manner and make changes as necessary, as specific needs may change over time.
We have been working on our summer projects and they are nearly completed.
We have done a complete remodel of the kitchen in the township hall using funds from the Covid 19 recovery fund also known as ARPA. This was a grant given to all units of govt. across the country.
We have also provided a newer, cleaner look for our township hall. New siding was installed on the entire building with along with the addition of a new sign, new ADA approved front entrance doors and updated interior lighting.
New road surface was laid on Deerton Onota Road. 3/10 mi of blacktop was laid near Au Train Onota School. This was done to aid in dust control in that area.
Still pending, is a new bridge on Johnson Lane. This project is to assist in opening up currently land locked property to the west of the Whitefish River for future development. An easement is currently in process with property owners to make this a viable project.
I have been working for more than a year in assisting The Alger County/ State Landbank and the County Treasure’s office as a liaison to facilitate the removal of blighted properties along M28 in our township.
This program is completely independent from any township authority or responsibility to the projects.
These transactions were between the Land Bank and the property owners in their entirety.
It is hoped that the pending buildings can be addressed before the coming winter. Thanks everyone, for making Onota Township such a great place to live.
